Life Less Stressed

Stress is a normal part of everyone’s life – there’s no way around it. Stress can even be a good thing, but if left unmanaged, it can lead to serious health and emotional problems. While ongoing stress management isn’t necessarily easy, it is simple: it’s all about taking time each day to take care of yourself.

Dealing with stress isn’t always easy – but it is simple.

The benefits of doing so are substantial: according to Mayo Clinic psychiatrist Daniel K. Hall-Flavin, M.D., it can even prevent depression. “If you’re having trouble coping, chronic stress can wear you down and overwhelm you. You may frequently be in a bad mood, your productivity may decrease, your relationships may suffer, and you might even find it difficult to go about your normal daily routine,” he writes.

Read on to learn a few simple ways to cope with the stresses of every day life.

  • Establish routines. What overwhelms you the most? Maybe it’s laundry, or email, or just getting out the door in the morning. Establish routines to help you manage these details of life without even having to think about it.
  • Curb clutter. Be ruthless in eliminating clutter from your home. So much time is spent cleaning, organizing, and working around clutter. Get rid of it to simplify your life!
  • Ask for help. Moms have a natural tendency to take care of those around them before taking care of themselves. There is no rule saying you have to do it all – delegate! Have the kids help out with household chores, ask your spouse or partner to take some of the load off, and even consider hiring help with the home or childcare if you can.
  • Carve out time for you. It can be tempting to pack every minute of the day with all of those little things that need to get done, but just as important is the need to have some free time to just do what you love to do – or do nothing at all!

These things might seem small. You might think they wouldn’t even make a difference. When practiced consistently, however, these little habits really do lead to a life less stressed.

May Every Step You Take Be Healthy!
